Beloeil Castle, the little “Belgian Versailles”

For several years, the Princes de Ligne have been putting their sumptuous Beloeil estate at the service of Luc Petit’s shows. We thank them warmly, because the beauty of these French gardens (whose architecture dates from 1664), a harmonious blend of water basins and greenery, contributes to the unique dimension of these ambulatory shows that truly come to life in this grandiose setting.

Property of the Princes de Linge since the 14th century, the fully furnished castle houses numerous collections (furniture, books, paintings, porcelain, etc.) the library, quite remarkable, brings together more than 20,000 volumes. The French garden, a harmonious alternation of water and greenery, shade and light, extends over 25 hectares. It is faithfully maintained with a concern to respect the original design dating from 1664.

Meet the show’s screenwriter:

Jean-Louis Godet

After Little Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio and Peter Pan, Jean-Louis Godet signs the adaptation of Jules Verne’s “Around the World in 80 Days” at the Château de Beloeil for Luc Petit.

With the director and the Nocturnales team, his role was to adapt the novel into a story that keeps the spectators in suspense with twists and turns embodied by mischievous actors, aerial dancers, daredevil acrobats and sometimes clumsy magicians at the heart of a life-size scenography.

Lewis Caroll, the author behind Wonderland

Lewis Carroll, real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898), is a British writer, mathematician and photographer, famous for having brought to life one of the most fascinating tales in literature: Alice in Wonderland.

Published in 1865, this fantastic tale, mixing absurdity, language games and overflowing imagination, has conquered generations of readers and inspired numerous adaptations. Through the adventures of Alice, a curious young girl plunged into a world populated by eccentric creatures, Carroll plays with logic and invites a dreamlike and surrealist exploration.

His work, marked by the influence of mathematics and paradoxes, continues to fascinate and inspire artists and directors. This show is an invitation to rediscover his enchanting and timeless universe, where the impossible becomes reality.
